Ilene H. Ferenczy

Ferenczy, J.D., CPC, APA, is the managing partner of Ferenczy + Paul LLP, an employee benefits law firm with offices in Atlanta, GA,  Sacramento, CA, and Knoxville, TN.  Ms. Ferenczy advises clients on all types of employee benefit plans, particularly focusing her practice on qualified retirement plans, benefits issues in mergers and acquisitions, and advising third-party administrators of employee benefit programs on technical and practice issues.  Having become an attorney after more than ten years as a third-party administrator, she brings a unique and practical approach to her advice.  She is a member of the State Bars of Georgia and California, and holds designations as a Certified Pension Consultant from the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries (ASPPA) and Accredited Pension Administrator from the National Institute of Pension Administrators.

She is a nationally known speaker on benefits issues, and has authored more than 70 articles for publications such as the Journal of Pension Benefits (where she is the Co-Editor-in-Chief), The 401(k) Advisor, and The ASPPA Journal.  Her book, Employee Benefits in Mergers and Acquisitions, an Aspen publication, is now in its 15th edition.  Ms. Ferenczy also authored three textbooks about defined contribution plans for ASPPA’s education and examination program, and was a prior author of The Plan Termination Answer Book.  In addition to being a frequent live presenter, she has also recorded numerous webcasts and other e-learning tools for several organizations.  Ms. Ferenczy is an adjunct professor in the College of Law at Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia, and on the Employee Benefits Advisory Board of the John Marshall Law School Center for Tax Law and Employee Benefits in Chicago, Illinois.

Ms. Ferenczy is the first female co-chair of ASPPA’s Government Affairs Committee.  She works with ASPPA to lobby for favorable pension legislation and workable DOL, IRS, and PBGC guidance in relation to retirement plans, and is a former member of ASPPA’s Board of Directors.  Ms. Ferenczy is the 2007 recipient of ASPPA’s Educator of the Year Award.  In 2012, Ms. Ferenczy was elected to membership as a Fellow in the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel, the highest honor awarded to ERISA lawyers.


Adam C. Pozek

Pozek, Adam-mdAdam is a partner and consultant at DWC ERISA Consultants, LLC. As a 25-year plus veteran of the retirement plan industry, he has worked with employers of all shapes and sizes on every aspect of qualified plans from design to ongoing compliance to plan corrections to termination. Adam is a frequent speakers and writer. He is a member of ASPPA’s Leadership Council and chair of the Government Affairs IRS Q&A subcommittee.








Sal L. Tripodi

Speakers-TripodiSal L. Tripodi currently maintains a nationally-based consulting practice in the employee benefits area, TRI Pension Services. TRI  Pension Services provides technical training in ERISA-related areas, presenting seminars around the country, and authors a eight-volume reference guide, The ERISA Outline Book, and an electronic quarterly newsletter (eRISA Update). He does ERISA-related seminars for major financial institutions, trade and professional associations, and consulting firms all over the United States. The ERISA Outline Book is used by over 2,000 firms.

Mr. Tripodi served as the President of the American Society of Pension Professional and actuaries (ASPPA) for the 2007-2008 term. He was an Adjunct Professor at the University of Denver Graduate Tax Program from 1986 through 2007. Mr. Tripodi started his employee benefits career with the Internal Revenue Service, as a Tax Law Specialist with the IRS National Office (1979-1983). Since 1983, Mr. Tripodi has been in the private sector, consulting on employee benefit matters, writing reference materials concerning employee benefit plans, and conducting numerous seminars. In 2001, Mr. Tripodi received ASPPA’s Educator Award. He is a Fellow of the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel since 2007. Mr. Tripodi received a J.D. at Catholic University of America Law School (1979) and an LL.M. at Georgetown University Law School (1983).


Craig P. Hoffman, Esq., APM

Speakers-Hoffman-1Craig is the General Counsel and Director of Regulatory Affairs for the American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries (ASPPA). Craig has previously served ASPPA as President, Co-chair of the Government Affairs Committee and Co-chair of the Political Action Committee. Prior to joining ASPPA, Craig served for more than 20 years as General Counsel for SunGard Relius LLC., and before that, was in private practice, specializing in the areas of taxation, ERISA, and employee benefits. He received both his JD and his LLM in Taxation from the University of Florida.

Craig has spoken at numerous meetings on the subject of qualified pension and retirement plans, including the ASPPA Annual Conference, the Society of Actuaries Annual Meeting; the Enrolled Actuaries Annual Conference; the American Law Institute/American Bar Association seminar in Scottsdale, Arizona; the New York Employee Benefits Conference; the Creative Pension Seminar sponsored by the Ohio State University College of Law; and the UMKC Law School Annual Employee Benefits Institute. In addition, he was an expert speaker at the first Saver Summit, jointly sponsored by the White House and Congress.

Presently, Craig serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Pension Benefits (Panel Publishers) and the Journal of Pensions Management (Henry Stewart Publications). He was a charter member of the first IRS Advisory Committee on Tax Exempt and Governmental Entities. He is also a Fellow in the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel. Craig’s articles have been featured in numerous publications, including The Pension Actuary, Journal of Compensation and Benefits, Journal of Pension Benefits, Pension and Benefits Week, Pension World, and RIA Pension Alert.


Brian H. Graff, Esq., APM

Speakers-GraffBrian began serving as Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer of the American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries (ASPPA) in November 1996. In this capacity, he oversees ASPPA’s operations, is a member of ASPPA’s Executive Committee and, working with ASPPA’s Board of Directors, charts the strategic direction for the organization.

 Brian spearheaded the creation of the National Association of Plan Advisors (NAPA), the Council of Independent 401(k) Recordkeepers (CIKR) and forged a partnership between ASPPA and the National Tax-Deferred Savings Association (NTSA). He has testified multiple times before Congress and the Department of Labor, and has served as a White House delegate for the National Summit on Retirement Savings. The American College of Employee Benefits inducted Brian, and he is listed as one of the top five most influential people in the 401(k) industry. Brian received his doctoral degree in law, cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in Philadelphia. He holds a Bachelor of Science in accounting with distinction from Cornell University.
