Why is the 403(b) Summit so important?

Today’s professionals serving the 403(b) and 457 marketplaces are facing an increasing number of challenges:

  • The acceleration of legislative and regulatory change
  • State governments directing policy and regulations for both public and private retirement plans, leading Congress to consider tax-reform simplification of retirement plan rules.
  • The upcoming Department of Labor fiduciary definition rule that will create a barrier between employer sponsored retirement plans and personal retirement savings.
  • A universal fiduciary standard that is being considered by the SEC.
  • The growth of “Robo Advisors” that would replace investment professionals and advisors with algorithms.

Recognizing the difficulties today’s industry professionals are facing, the 2016 NTSA 403(b) Masters Summit will use these challenges to create opportunities for attendees to be better prepared to lead their clients and practices to success.

One of the exciting new options for 2016 is that participants have the opportunity to earn the
newly created Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor (CPFA) credential while at the summit! This credential
demonstrates an advisor’s knowledge, expertise and commitment to working with retirement
plans. Those who earn this credential display that they have the knowledge and expertise required
to both act as a plan fiduciary and help other plan fiduciaries manage their roles and responsibilities.
On January 21 and January 23, interested participants can take part in a two-part CPFA boot camp
followed by the CPFA examination. Those who successfully pass the examination will earn their CPFA
credential that day. To learn more about the CPFA credential, boot camp and exam, please visit the
CPFA section of the NTSA 403(b) website.
